IMF expects Romania to record the highest economic increase from Europe in 2011, of 5.1%

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) expects Romania to report the best economic performance in Europe next year, with a 5.1 percent advance of the gross domestic product (GDP), although it revised estimates on this year’s economic increase from 1.3 to 0.8 percent.

The Fund also raised estimates on inflation for 2010, from 3.6 to 4 percent, but the average advance of consumer prices could temper at 3.1 percent in 2011.

Iceland volcano eruption grounds flights in Romania

As many as 32 flights were canceled on the Henri Coanda international airport in Otopeni, northern Bucharest, because of the volcanic ash generated by the Icelandic volcano eruption.

Romania’s state-owned airline Tarom canceled flights to and from Brussels, Amsterdam, London, Paris and Frankfurt this morning, while Air France delayed flights to and from Paris. British Airways called off flights to and from London, Lufthansa those to and from Frankfurt and Dusseldorf, Finnair to and from Helsinki, KLM to and from Amsterdam and Lot to and from Warsaw.

Eight other flights were canceled on the Aurel Vlaicu airport in Baneasa.

Low-cost airline Wizz Air postponed flights to and from London, but also to and from Dortmund, while Blue Air canceled the flights to and from Paris and Germanwings to and from Stuttgart.
Also, five other flights were canceled from Cluj, Sibiu and Timisoara.

About iPhone OS 4

The continued evolution of the iPhone operating system has been rather like completing a puzzle. In its original form, the puzzle lacked important pieces like multimedia messaging and a landscape keyboard, but with each subsequent update, Apple filled those gaps.

Thursday, the company added more missing pieces when it introduced the fourth generation of the iPhone operating system at its headquarters in Cupertino, Calif. After a wait of almost three years, we finally get multitasking–though not for everyone–and other sorely needed features like home screen folders and a unified e-mail in-box. The update is available for developers now with the general release for the iPhone and iPod Touch coming this summer and the iPad in the fall. (more…)
