Victor Ponta was elected the president of the Social-Democrat Party (PSD) on Sunday night with 856 votes, while Mircea Geoana received 781 votes.
As many as 1,657 social-democrats expressed their opinion on who should lead the party, but 16 votes were canceled.
As to the vice presidents, Ecaterina Andronescu gathered most of the votes, being followed by Dan Nica, Gheorghe Nichita, Ion Toma and Marian Vanghelie.
The social-democrats Rodica Nassar, Constantin Nita, Ion Prioteasa, Robert Negoita, Titus Corlatean, Ioan Calea, Marian Oprisan, Ioan Chelaru, Valeriu Zgonea and Adrian Severin also managed to win a vice president seat last night.
